Parish Notes

-          Christians around the world are invited to give particular attention to praying and caring for God’s creation as part of the global Season of Creation, observed from September 1 to October 4 every year. General Synod 2019 passed a resolution adopting the Season of Creation in the Anglican Church of Canada as a time of prayer, education and action, and encouraging dioceses and parishes to participate.

-           Sunday September 1st 10 a.m. was the last day of services for St Marks as Rev. Alexis Saunders is retiring.  Please pray for the people of St. Mark’s as they prepare for deconsecration of their church, which will take place on Wednesday, September 4 at 3:00 p.m. .

 -           A memorial service for Jim Mitchell will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral on October 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm – 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops. Denise will collect cards for the family in the office and send them there before the date if anyone would like to send condolences.

-         Preparations are speeding up for our 40th anniversary this year!  Planning meetings are held every Tuesday morning at Grace Church. Events are the Welcome Social on September 20, Morning Prayer followed by coffee and fellowship; the Photo Scavenger Hunt, Dinner and entertainment on September 21; and lunch and/or bag lunch on September 22.  Worship services will be Morning Prayer on Saturday, September 21 and Holy Eucharist at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  on Sunday, September 22.  The Committee requests payment of $40 by August 31 from those who plan to attend.  The fee includes all events.

-           Mary Hart has donated a box of her husband's cassette tapes for anyone who would like them.  They include tapes of Anglican hymns and tapes of her husband's sermons.  Mary's husband used to travel from Prince George to McBride, where he preached at All Saints Anglican, in the building which is now Grace Church.

-        Trinity United members are making either knit or crocheted teddy bears for each child that moves into their Harmony House. If you are willing/able to help them out, please let Denise know as she can supply wool and the pattern. Harmony House is also looking for Double bed sized quilts for each bed at Harmony House for when they open.

-         We are in need for people to sign up for coffee and goodies following the 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays.  Sign-up sheet is at the back bulletin board.

-         We are also in need of people to sign up to water the gardens during this warm spell of weather. Sign-up sheet is at the back bulletin board.

-        We would appreciate if people would volunteer to provide flowers for the Altar on Sundays.  Small plants work great and last a few weeks.  Please let Denise (250 562-5611) in the office or Sharon Armistead (250 964-1251) know if you would like to provide anything.

-         Gardeners of the Church, you’re needed! As of next spring Sharon will no longer be available to oversee the garden and the spring and fall cleanups. We REALLY need someone to step up and take over. Now is the best time to work alongside of Sharon for the summer so you will know what needs to be done thereafter. Sharon is making a job description so the new person/people will know what to do and she is only a phone call away if you forget anything or have questions! If, you don’t feel this is something you can do alone, maybe we can get a group of people together, so the task isn’t so big! Sharon would still appreciate any help in weeding especially at the back and trimming away the new shoots around the lilac trees and cutting off the dead flower heads this year. Thank you, Sharon, for the many years of Service you have provided to the Church and yard.
