Announcements March 17 - March 23, 2025

Sunday’s Readings: March 23, 2025; The Third Sunday in Lent

Isaiah 55.1-9; Psalm 63.1-8; 1 Corinthians 10.1-13; Luke 13.1-9

Loving God, help us to offer our Lenten prayers to you daily. Psalm 18.6 tells us “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help.  From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.”  Help us always to hear your voice, loving God, when you call on us. Amen.

Parish Notes
  • FAQ’s about Lent.  Lent is the forty-day liturgical season of fasting, special prayer and almsgiving in preparation for Easter. The name “Lent” is from the Middle English “Lencten,” meaning spring; its more primitive ecclesiastical name was the “forty days,” “quadragesima” in Latin or “tessaracoste” in Greek.
  • SPRING PLANT SALE FAST-TRACK!  In order to meet requests to have the plants available for Mothers’ Day, the Plant Sale has been moved forward.  Orders must be received by April 8.  Order forms available at graceanglicanpg.ca and the Church Office.
  • Equip is the Territory’s biennial Territory-wide Conference for learning, growth and equipping for ministry.  Equip will resume this year, May 23-25 in Kamloops, kicking off a year-long Season of Spiritual Renewal.  The theme for Equip will be “Rooted and Grounded in Love” (Eph 3:16-19). The Guest Speaker will be the Rev. Deacon Elizabeth Short. Fee, which includes meals, is $100 for the weekend. Registration forms are available in the office, attached to the announcements email, and on the Territory website. Registration deadline is April 15th to get in on the earlybird door prize. Registration fees must be received no later than May 7th. Bishop Clara personally invites us all to consider attending this event.
  • All year round we at Grace support several helping organizations including New Hope Society and Shepherd's Corner. New Hope Society provides a drop-in center, food and warm clothing to female sex trade workers and Shepherd’s Corner provides warm clothing and food for inadequately housed people. New Hope clients always need warm clothing, especially footwear and small women’s underwear as well as healthy hand snacks.  Shepherd’s Corner distribute snacks, clothing, especially winter coats, warm socks and boots, and warm gloves. Donations in kind can be put in the baskets at the rear of the church and cash donations can be made through your regular offering.
  • We encourage people to sign up for coffee and goodies following the 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays.  Sign-up sheet is at the back bulletin board.
  • We would appreciate if people would volunteer to provide flowers for the Altar on Sundays.  Small plants work great and last a few weeks.  Please let Denise (250 562-5611) in the office or Sharon Armistead (250 964-1251) know if you would like to provide anything.
